Fishing

let's go

fishing!

When it comes to fishing, anglers are always sure to find a spot somewhere along the beautiful Hibiscus Coast, with its warm Indian Ocean, piers, dams and abundance of rivers.
When it comes to deep sea fishing, there are several local sites that offer fishing charters from skiboat launch sites, including:

∙ Shelly Beach
∙ Scottburgh
∙ Rocky Bay
∙ Pennington
∙ Hibberdene
∙ Lucien Beach
∙ Ramsgate
∙ Glenmore / Munster.

From any of these fishing charters, anglers are likely to catch multiple game species, including yellowfin tuna, amberjack, king mackerel (couta), dorado, skipjack, sailfish, marlin, wahoo, sardasarda, bonito, yellowtail and green jobfish.
Those looking to showcase their fishing skills can participate in any of the annual skiboat festivals which offer prizes for the best catches. These take place at Shelly Beach and Port Edward, with the Paddock fishing competition held near Oribi Gorge.
There are also riverboat tours that offer a more freshwater angling experience, rock and surf fishing spots, and bass fishing opportunities within the KZN South Coast. It’s difficult to find anywhere on the Hibiscus Coast that doesn’t have incredible fishing!

For some, remaining on the shoreline is sufficient for a relaxing seaside holiday, but the KwaZulu-Natal South Coast offers so much more! Boat charters will get visitors out behind the breakline where close--up experiences with dolphins and whales can be enjoyed. Charter boats will also take ocean adventurers out snorkelling, scuba diving and shark cage diving, with boat launches to Aliwal Shoal from Umkomaas, Scottburgh and Rocky Bay; and boat launches to Protea Banks from Shelly Beach.
Visiting anglers will also enjoy chartering a fishing boat out to sea where they can cast their lines for yellowfin tuna, dorado, barracuda, snoek, garrick, yellow tail, and marlin, among many others.
