Tour 9 includes some spectacular family attractions to the South Coast, including a state-of-the-art waterpark, professionally designed mountain bike trails and the unspoiled beauty of the Umtamvuna Nature Reserve. The 3257 ha Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife reserve includes a section of the Umtamvuna River and the Bulolo River, which is a tributary of the Umtamvuna.
The Farm Stall
From humble beginnings, being the sale of bananas from a simple table sheltered by a large tree, The Farmstall, a family owned venture has grown exponentially, is 100% local and boasts a wide range of organic fresh produce. The Farmstall has been in the Hooper family since 1965, and is now run by Jolene Hooper, granddaughter of the original founders.
Tiagos
For healthy, affordable, and delicious take-away options, all grilled over open flame using free range chicken. Tiagos has something for the hungriest, the healthiest and even the pickiest of eaters. You’ll “Smaak-it Bru”! Tiagos open flame was established in 1996 in Port Edward, KwaZulu-Natal by South Coasters who have a passion for loving and supporting local.
Red Desert
Located just 10km from Port Edward is one of the KZN South Coast’s most unique geographic formations, as well as the smallest feature of its kind in the world – the Red Desert. The desert is only 200m in diameter, 11 hectares in entirety, consisting of red soil which is in stark contrast to the surrounding lush tropical vegetation. This internationally-protected heritage site is home to a number of archaeological artefacts that date back millions of years. Despite the myth of alien landings, the desert origins are most likely the result of overgrazing by cattle herds of age-old Zulu tribes.

Bundu Bashers MTB Club was established by our coasts local mountain bikers in 2003. They share a passion for cycling, a loathing for meetings and a love for the outdoors. For them every ride is a little holiday and their bikes take them places that their cars never could! The Club registered itself with KZNMBC (Kwa Zulu Natal Mountain Biking Commission) and CSA (Cycling South Africa) as an affiliated and constituted mountain biking club.
